- I'm looking for a modem to be used to check the line conditions of our
- dial-in POPs and want to get the one with the best line diagnostics.
- I know that the USR Courier has very good diagnostics with the ati6
- command. I'm just wondering if there is a modem out there with even
- better diagnostic tools. I am under budget constraints so a $2000
- ubermodem is not an option.
- Also, does anyone know the minimun S/N ratio for voice lines. I had
- some lines (recently cancelled) with a S/N of 15, which I know is
- unusable. I've noticed that anything below 30 is very iffy, and I
- don't normally get 28.8 with anything less than 32. I'm trying to get
- the telco to give me credit for the terrible lines but need to know
- the minimum S/N spec'd before I really hammer them.
